Workbook 1, Opening Bids at the 1 Level, includes 30 hands to practice opening bids at the 1 level in major suits, minor suits, and no trump. Includes examples of distributional hands worthy of opening with lighter values.
Workbook 2, Responding to Opening Bids of 1 of a Suit, includes 80 hands to practice responding to 1 level opening bids in a suit -20 consecutive hands for each suit open.
Workbook 3, Opener Rebids: After a Limited Response, includes 200 hands to practice opener’s rebid after responder has limited his hand by raising opener’s suit or bidding no trump. Focuses primarily on auctions at or below game level – appropriate for beginners.
Workbook 4, Opener Rebids: After an unlimited Response, includes 120 hands to practice opener’s rebid after responder has made a forcing, unlimited response. Divided into two sections – when opener has a fit with responder and when he does not. Focuses primarily on auctions at or below game.
Workbook 5, Responder Rebids, includes 110 hands to practice responder’s rebid. Each section includes an analysis of ‘what has opener told you’ to ensure users fully understand the auction progression prior to responder’s rebid.
Workbook 6, No Trump, Including Stayman and Jacoby Transfer, includes 265 hands to practice responding and rebidding after an opening bid, or overcall, of 1 no trump. Includes a thorough discussion of both the concepts and mechanics of Stayman and Jacoby Transfer Weak 2 Opens and Pre-emptive Bids.
Workbook 7, Weak 2 Opens and Pre-emptive Bids, includes 145 hands to practice opening, responding and rebidding auctions beginning with a Weak 2 or Pre-empt. Includes a thorough discussion of the importance and methodology of counting tricks, as well as a discussion on the impact of vulnerability on bidding.
Workbook 8, Strong 2 Clubs Including 2 Diamonds Waiting, includes 110 hands to practice opening, responding and rebidding auctions beginning with a Strong 2 Clubs open. Includes a discussion of strong hands which should not open 2 Clubs as well as complete practice with 2 Diamonds Waiting.
Help Suit Game Tries includes 60 hands to practice asking for help as well as responding to a Help Suit Game Try. Includes practice identifying when, and how, to respond with an alternate suit when lacking help in the requested suit.
Cuebidding 1 – Controls, winner of the 2012 ABTA Book of the Year award, includes 65 hands to practice cuebidding Aces and Kings. Includes responding to cuebids and the concept of mild slam try. Does not include use of technique to cuebid voids or singletons.
